Community Partners

We appreciate the support of so many people and agencies
who make our mission possible!

Area 10 Agency on Aging (https://area10agency.org/): We partner with Area 10 to provide meals to their senior, homebound clients who would otherwise be on a waiting list for food assistance.

Bloomington Township Trustee (http://www.bloomingtontownship.in.gov/): Bloomington Township Trustee’s office used to own the building out of which we operate Community Kitchen Express. For years, they rented the building to us free of charge and covered the cost of utilities for that location. They made it possible for us to purchase the property and have continued to support our operations there, financially.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Bloomington (https://bgcbloomington.org/): We provide healthy snacks and meals to at-risk children and youth attending the Boys & Girls Clubs locations in Bloomington.

A Friend’s Place (https://beaconinc.org/our-work/#friends-place): We deliver dinner each evening to the residents staying at A Friend’s Place overnight shelter, operated by Beacon, Inc.

Hoosier Hills Food Bank (https://www.hhfoodbank.org/): The Hoosier Hills Food Bank is a vital partner in food acquisition for Community Kitchen. Through the food bank, we are able to access produce and other quality items from local grocery stores and restaurants. In addition, we can “shop” at HHFB for additional food that costs us only a shared maintenance fee per pound.

IU Health – Positive Link (https://iuhealth.org/find-medical-services/positive-link-hiv-services): We partner with Positive Link to reach HIV+ clients who because of income and health are unable to prepare the healthiest foods that enable them to manage their wellness. We have volunteers who delivered to prepared, reheatable meals per weekday.

MCCSC (https://www.mccsc.edu/): We partner with nearly all MCCSC schools to distribute our Backpack Buddies program. The school social workers identify families and get them signed up for the program. They communicate needs and numbers to us and we supply the bags of food and deliver them to the schools each week.

Perry Township Trustee (http://www.perrytownship.info/): For years, Perry Township allowed us to use the space at 917 S Rogers St as our main location, rent free. Now, they annually grant us funds to help pay our utilities, while we help feed township residents in need.

Richland Township Trustee (http://www.richlandtownshiptrustee.org/): Richland Township Trustee’s office allowed us free use the 102 S Park St, Ellettsville as an initial serving location in Ellettsville. They were instrumental in helping us get up and running with service in Ellettsville.

South Central Community Action Program – Head Start (http://www.insccap.org/pages/head_start_early_head_start): We vend lunches for 22 Head Start classrooms spread across six sites in Monroe County. We provide very nutritious lunches for the young Head Start students

Stone Belt (https://www.stonebelt.org/): Stone Belt works to provide meaningful life and community experience to individuals with developmental disabilities. Those folks really help out Community Kitchen by delivering food to the homes of Nutrition Links and Senior Links clients, as well as, collecting food through the Hand in Hand program. Hand in Hand is a program through which individuals in neighborhoods can make food donations to Community Kitchen, by leaving those out for Stone Belt individuals to collect and deliver to Community Kitchen. The Rise at Middle Way House (https://middlewayhouse.org/transitional-housing/): We provide sack meals to the children in the childcare program at The Rise, a transitional housing facility for women and children escaping domestic violence.

United Way of Monroe County (https://www.monroeunitedway.org/): Community Kitchen is one of 24 local member agencies supported by United Way. This funding is important as it is consistent income we can count on and isn’t earmarked for a specific program.
